By visa  |  September 01, 2020

This article you will find details on getting the Vietnamese visa in Hong Kong (one of these cities, where you can get pretty much anything). In order to get one, you will need to show up in Vietnamese Consulate (many websites refer to it as embassy for some reason) with passport, photo and money. Here’s the address and contact details:

15/F., Great Smart Tower, 230 Wan Chai Road,
Wan Chai, Hong Kong
Tel:(852)2591-4510; 2591-4517; 2835-9358; 2835-9398
Fax:(852)2591-4524
Email: tlsqhk@mofa.gov.vn
Website: http://www.vietnamconsulate-hongkong.org/

As much as the website does not offer too much information I would strongly recommend to call them before you go there. Every member of staff speaks speaks English and is very friendly.

Why go to Vietnamese Consulate in Hong Kong?
If you searched Google for details on getting Vietnamese visa you probably noticed that most of the sites recommend to get visa on arrival. It’s a great and service that they provide earning them a good profit. Unfortunately, this service applies only to people who fly to one of the 3 major airports in Vietnam.

If you plan to enter Vietnam by land, you have to get Vietnamese visa prior to arrival on the border. This is when you need to approach Vietnamese Consulate or Embassy.

What types of visa do they offer?
There are 3 types of visa available on the application form in Vietnamese Consulate in Hong Kong at the time when I was applying for one. All of them where tourist visas:

One month single entry – costs HK$300 with additional HK$200 charge for express service
One month multiple entry – don’t know exact price, but it should be something in between the the one above and the one below
Three months multiple entry -costs HK$1000 with additional HK$100 charge for express (1 hour) service
